Time is an important part of the concept of our universe and many of the questions we can ask of space are analogous to the questions we can ask of time. Is time fundamental to a universe or could universes exist which had no time component? Is time eternal or did time come into existence at the moment in which material stuff came into existence? Did there used to be an empty time which was waiting to be filled be our universe?

As with space these are important questions if we truly wish to get to grips with the nature of reality. Our perception of these questions is also affected by our own concept of how we know time to exist. Is time something we have discovered through our experience of it or is time something we are capable of intuiting prior to any experience of it?

Coming to understand our universe will involve a deep engagement with the issues surrounding the nature of time and those issues will be a recurring theme in this blog.
